Happylightwave began with a simple conviction: that the most memorable luxury is the kind you barely notice. We drew on the Scandinavian tradition of light minimalism — pale oak, soft linen, generous daylight — and paired it with the warm, theatrical atmosphere of a classic casino lounge.
The result is a hotel that feels both serene and alive. Mornings are quiet and bright. Evenings carry the soft glow of a refined gaming atmosphere — roulette-themed interiors, elegant card tables and the gentle rhythm of chips, all enjoyed in person, never online.
Happylightwave was founded by a small group of hospitality professionals who had spent years between Nordic design studios and the grand hotel lounges of Europe. They shared a frustration with the noise of modern travel — the apps, the queues, the impersonal check-ins — and a belief that something quieter was possible.
In 2019 we opened our doors at 48 Harrington Street in Sydney, transforming a commercial building into a light-filled boutique hotel. Every surface was considered, every suite designed for rest, and a single casino-inspired lounge added at the heart of the property to give evenings a sense of occasion.
Today, Happylightwave remains independently owned and personally run. Our team knows our guests by name, and every experience is delivered face to face — exactly as hospitality should be.

We are, first and foremost, a hotel. Accommodation is our craft, and every suite is designed around a good night's sleep, a calm morning and a sense of being genuinely looked after.
The casino-inspired element is part of our atmosphere, not our business. It lives in a single elegant lounge — a place to spend an evening in good company, surrounded by roulette-themed interiors and the quiet glamour of chips and cards. It is entertainment, in person, for the pleasure of the experience.
We do not offer online gambling, real-money gaming, betting or gambling accounts. Everything happens at our physical venue, face to face.
